Schneider Shaving Quarantine Beard to Raise Funds for Local Food Bank

NORTHBROOK, IL (June 18th, 2020)-- Today, Brad Schneider announced that he will be raising funds in support of the Northern Illinois Food Bank by shaving his “quarantine beard” grown during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Northern Illinois, one in 14 residents, including nearly one in 10 children face food insecurity, meaning a lack of access to enough nutritious food to lead an active, healthy life. The economic stress of the pandemic is only making this situation worse, and making the important work of NIFB's network of food pantries, soup kitchens even more critically important.

“If you watched any of our recent video town hall events or Zoom roundtables, you may have noticed me looking a little scruffier lately. That's because like many Americans, I've used this period of working from home and social distancing to grow a Covid-19 beard. But as Illinois moves to re-open, I think it's time for a change (and my wife Julie agrees). I'm working to raise $5,000 for our local Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) for a ‘fund razor’ to get rid of my quarantine beard. I am hoping you will join me both by supporting this important local cause and by helping me get clean shaven again,” said Schneider.

Schneider for Congress will be accepting contributions toward the Northern Illinois Food Bank on a dedicated page through the end of June

In his video message, Schneider urged friends and supporters to join in helping this community organization. “Neighbors helping neighbors will be how we make it through this crisis,” said Schneider. “Thank you for your help fighting food insecurity.”
