Often lost sight of during the partisan bickering and political gamesmanship, is the effect the current gridlock will have on the next generation – and the generations after that. But we know that the longer we put off dealing with our biggest issues – the debt crisis, the disappearing middle class, education, equality for all, immigration reform, climate change – the more we’ll set back the next generation. Leaving those who follow us with better opportunities is the promise of this nation. We must not lose that promise to Tea Party partisanship or right-wing ideological purity. I want my sons to inherit a better country, just as my parents worked to provide one for me.
