We made promises to our seniors – Social Security, Medicare – and those promises are worth keeping. After decades of work and service to our country, our seniors have earned a safe, secure, dignified retirement with the Social Security benefits they’ve earned and the Medicare guarantee they were promised. I will oppose efforts to replace the Medicare guarantee with a voucher system that forces seniors to pay more, and I will not stand for Social Security being exposed to the same financial gambling that precipitated our current economic state. I firmly believe that there are ways to address our debt crisis without placing the burden on our seniors. That’s why I am committed to working to preserve Medicare and Social Security now and for our children in the future.
