Separation of Church and State

It is a founding principle of our constitution, memorialized in the Bill of Rights, in the very first amendment, that the United States has not and shall not have an established religion.  It is a key virtue of our nation and an example to the world that every American shares the freedom to embrace and express their own individual religious traditions. It is a source of strength to our country that people from around the world can come to this country and join our nation as full citizens, all the while enhancing the mosaic of beliefs and traditions that has allowed our country to flourish.

As a member of Congress, I will continue our country’s tradition of separation between religion and government to ensure that all people, regardless of religion or creed, feel confident in their citizenship and their contribution to the future prosperity and security of the United States.
